Rosa Carter Jones is a nationally certified group fitness instructor and founder of New Day Fitness, LLC.  She is a wife, daughter, sister, and friend.  But most importantly, Rosa is a woman of God.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of nine and began an intimate walk with God after her second year in college.  It was around that same time that Rosa developed a passion for fitness.

“Growing up, I was involved in dance, cheerleading, and tennis; however, I was consistently 15-25 lbs overweight.  During my first semester in college, I admitted that my weight was out of control.  As a new Christian, I realized that being overweight was not God’s best for me.”

Rosa started attending fitness class and making healthier eating choices.  Within a few months, the pounds began to shed.  Some fitness instructors noticed Rosa’s success and physical ability.  They encouraged her to audition for a fitness instructor position.  Rosa took on the challenge and has taught fitness classes at Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech, Christiansburg Recreational Center, and the Dance Place.

“I initially thought that being a fitness instructor was a just a simple way for me to stay physically active, but it’s turned out to be so much more than that. I started listening to my favorite Christian artists during my personal exercise sessions.  Those sessions became a tremendous time of personal praise and worship to the Lord. Whenever my body felt tired, I’d listen to songs like I Press by Fred Hammond where he sings about pressing forward until you become what God wants you to be.  In those moments, the power of God’s word restored my mind and gave strength to my body and spirit.  I left my workouts feeling renewed and restored.  That’s what NDF and 3-D Workout™ are all about—helping others use the power of God to transform the way that they look, feel, and think. ”

In 2006, the Lord spoke to Rosa about starting her own business.  Specifically, God told her to create Christian exercise DVDs.  He showed her how she could use her experience as a fitness instructor and worshiper of God to create a Christ-centered exercise experience.  These DVDs would allow people to strengthen their body, mind, and spirit simultaneously. Her first DVD, 3-D Workout™ Excercising, Mind, Body & Spirit will be released mid-June 2008.

“In Colossians 3:23, we are instructed to ‘do everything as unto the Lord’.  I’ve created an exercise experience that will help Christians and seekers of God do something great for the body and connect with God all at the same time.  I’ve learned that worship is a lifestyle and can easily be incorporated into everything that we do. It is my prayer that my DVDs, presentations, and classes will change the way that Christians see exercise.  It does not have to be a dreadful experience—especially if it is done unto the Lord”.

Rosa has been teaching various forms of exercise for over 10 years.  Her favorite workouts are kickboxing and circuit training.  She is a nationally certified group fitness instructor through the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America. Rosa earned a bachelors degree in Human Services Counseling (Old Dominion University ’01) and  masters degrees in Higher Education & Student Affairs and Counselor Education (Virginia Tech ’03 ’07).  Currently, Rosa serves as a high school guidance counselor and resides in Virginia with her husband, Minister Jefferson J. Jones.  They attend the
Radford Church of God in Christ
where Superintendent Ronald A. Watson is their pastor.
